Occupational Therapy Home Assessments

To assess people within their home environment and provide advice to increase their safety and optimize independence in completing their daily activities.

During the Home Assessment, our Occupational Therapists will complete a comprehensive assessment of the person, considering their physical and cognitive abilities, goals, and things that are important to them. Our Occupational Therapist may observe the performance of everyday tasks within the home and provide recommendations to enhance your safety, function, and progression toward goals.

The Occupational Therapy Home Assessment may be required to:

  • Minimize the risk of falls within the home environment

  • Review home accessibility

  • Provide recommendations for minor or major home modifications (such as grab rails, and ramps)

  • Review appropriate equipment to optimize safety and function

  • Provide education to individuals, carers, and families

  • Future planning to promote independence long-term
